Description:Position Summary:

Under direct supervision by department leadership, donor lab tech performs diagnostic clinical and clinical contract research testing.

Prepare samples through sample management and test samples on 4 different analyzers for customer results.

Supports preparation of laboratory reagents and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Understands and performs to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

Performs diagnostic testing, as scheduled (500-1,500 samples per analyzer in a given night) on one of 4 analyzers.

Supports sample management team with sample identification/evaluation, labeling, processing and centrifuging samples when there are high volumes of samples or decrease in tests needed

Performs reagent preparation, as scheduled, and support maintenance of reagent.

Operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance and calibration on equipment and may participate in validations (equipment is properly running).

May release final results in accordance to training and compliance requirements.Volume:

Each analyzer can have anywhere from 500 samples-1,500 samples/bench in a given night (as the night shift tests the most samples)

6 month training:1:1 training with trainer on 3rd shift and the training is broken into 4 parts based on analyzer:

training on Beckman Coulter PK7300, followed by a few weeks of individual experience

training on Abbott Alinity S, followed by a few weeks of individual experience

training on Immucor Neo, followed by a few weeks of individual experience

training on Roche Cobas 8800, followed by a few weeks of individual experience

B.S. Life Science (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc) or Medical Lab Tech (MLT) schooling with ASCP certification or Clinical Lab Science (CLS) schooling

5+ years in clincial testing PREFERRED (over 2 years of clinical testing experience)

Independent work style

Personality: humble, willing to learn

Nice to have:

Blood banking experience

Biology lab internship

Experience with centrifuges, Spectrophotometer, qPCR Instrumentation, Gel Electrophoresis, Sequencer
