The ideal candidate will have experiences in multiple analytical techniques, including UPLC, LC-MS, CD, SPR, DLS, gel electrophoresis, osmolality, UV-vis, and fluorescence-based methods, as well as experiences in analytical method development and troubleshooting. They must be computer savvy, with the ability to navigate multiple instrument control software and data analysis environments, possess strong technical problem-solving skills, and have an internal motivation to work independently and achieve efficient, quality results in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:
Analysis of chemically synthesized oligonucleotides: UPLC and LC-MS for purity determination.
Source, explore, and implement the latest separation science and technologies for the purification and characterization of oligonucleotides and their conjugates (carbohydrate, lipid, peptide, protein).
Perform downstream processing to purify modified oligonucleotides using RP purification, ion-exchange chromatography, spin filtration, and size exclusion chromatography to support semi-preparative and preparative method development activities.
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instruments such as but not limited to UPLC, LC-MS, osmometer, and nano drop in good operational condition.
Perform bioassay sample preparation, gel electrophoresis, and surface modification (SPR sensor chips, magnetic beads) to support method development based on bioanalytical background knowledge, and perform organized, presentable data collection and analysis.
Learn new technologies quickly and apply effective scientific concepts and methods across multiple areas.
Process and present data leveraging Microsoft Office apps and GraphPad for data organization.
Document experiments, data, technical reports, and findings electronically in an accessible manner and good documentation practice.
Present findings, progress, and data proactively and regularly in group and department meetings.
Possess a collaborative and willing-to-share mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and attention to details
Ability to follow Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines while performing tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors OR Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific field, with 0+ years of relevant post-graduate experience
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus.
Experience in separations science, including but not limited to RP, HILIC, HIC, IEX, SEC and CE.
Experience in mass spectrometry including ESI ionization with a range of mass spectrometer designs (QToF, Orbitrap, QQQ).
Experience in UV-vis, CD, SPR and fluorescence-based assays for oligonucleotide analysis
Experience in gel electrophoresis for oligonucleotide characterization.
Prior working experience in bioanalysis is a big plus.
Highly self-motivated and self-driven attitude with ability to own and drive projects into success.
Strong organizational and communication skills and effective people skills.
Capable of continuous learning, open-minded, highly organized, and detail oriented.
Ability to balance multiple activities, prioritize and handle ambiguity.
