This includes developing and conducting program activities for education and treatment related to substance abuse, as well asprovidingindividual and group counseling sessions. The counseloris responsible forpatient assessment and the development and implementation of Recovery Plans, within the company's standards.Key Responsibilities
Conducts group and individual substance abuse (SA) activities for patients and develops related programs.
Assesses and evaluates patients for co-occurring disorders anddeterminesthe level of carerequired.
Ensurestimelycompletion of all necessary records and reports.
Maintains professional development through in-service education and other resources, whilecomplying withHuman Resources requirements.
Shows cultural sensitivity, treating each patient as an individual, and considering their cultural background whenprovidingcare and treatment.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field.
Or Certified in the substance abuse field
Or Experience in the substance abuse field
Experience
Ability to work with computers
Ability to work with software used by the department.
Relevant experience in provision of addiction counseling services
Licenses/Certifications
Licensed in an addiction counseling specialty (Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)) certification is strongly preferred
Certified as a Counselor in Training under supervision or licensed in social work, counseling or psychology
Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
