About the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH): The Indiana Department of Health’s mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of all Hoosiers so that they can reach their optimal health regardless of where they live, learn, work, or play. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Role Overview: The Warehouse Foreman 1 manages the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) warehouse space and Inventory. This includes receiving, stocking, and distribution of inventory; and operating machinery such as forklifts, reach trucks, motorized pallet jacks, and various hand tools. This position assists with building projects within IDOH facilities, helping with the organization of communal storage spaces, and lifting items ranging from 50-75 pounds regularly. This position also serves as the agency Mobile Phone Coordinator. This includes troubleshooting, ordering, setup, and inventory management of state mobile devices. This position also maintains all furniture, furniture repairs, and furniture relocations in all IDOH facilities. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, deadline-driven, highly communicative and committed to producing a high quality of work that ensures agency operations continue at an optimal level. This position is essential to ensuring IDOH facilities are safe, secure, and available to staff and contractors who provide essential services to Hoosiers. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Maintain detailed inventory records and exercise inventory control of the items ordered.

Calculate monthly, quarterly, and yearly inventory reports and ensure accuracy.

Implement on the job training for new offenders.

Supervise offender workers with emphasis on safety and security.

Complete offender evaluations as required.

Receive general deliveries from common carriers and ensure purchase order and packing slips are accurate.

Complete receiver information and tag fixed assets in PeopleSoft.

Prepare purchase orders of facility supplies and maintains supply inventory.

Maintain key and tools control utilized by warehouse staff or offender workers.

Complete ACA documentation and tool log.

Assign offender jobs daily based on current/daily priority.

Teach Offender Fork Truck training and certification.

Evaluate and reorganize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.

Assist with uniform distribution as needed.

During facility emergencies, assist with operations as needed.

Perform work in accordance with approved health and safety practices.

What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

Three (3) years of experience in ordering & receiving supplies, shipping, and/or distributing supplies, materials, or equipment. A combination of related work experience and accredited college training in a related field may be considered.

Thorough knowledge of requisition, disbursing procedures, and inventory control procedures.

Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations, and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.

Ability to train and direct the work of offenders assigned to the warehouse and provide appropriate security measures.

Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory records and purchasing records.

Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack, refrigeration truck, box truck, golf cart and other mechanical equipment in the warehouse.

Capable of traveling to various vendor locations and businesses, Central office, and other state agencies.

Ability to observe offenders and staff and accurately recall detail to write concise reports.

Ability to work under emergency conditions.
