This is a job where we teach at different schools and sometimes libraries, occasionally houses. Chess for mostly beginner kids. We have a unique style of teaching that we use that basically teaches through games and kind of teasing kids along. It can definitely be a lot of fun if you enjoy kids. And you like teaching.
I suppose the negative to this is it's not a full time job. It's usually part time or occasional. Generally, people who work for us do it for a long time. And sometimes, fairly often, we'll leave and come back to it. It is important to have the after school time flexible on your schedule at least once or twice a week. The after school time is a start of say 2:20. Or. 3:00 or maybe 3:30. Those times at least have to be somewhat flexible on at least one or two days.
Pay does vary. But generally for the during the week times. Would you have, say, one class at a time? It ranges. From 60 to 80 an hour. For the camps. That you usually have several hours in a row. The range is more like 35 to 45 an hour.
It helps to be pretty good at chess. The better you are, the easier it will be. But you don't have to be real good, as long as you're willing to get better and learn. And of course, teach in our style.
