Job Title: Maintenance TechnicianPay Rate : $30-32/HourLocation : Valparaiso, ILShift : 2nd and 3rd shiftJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician responsible for performing maintenance on converting and paper machines, including troubleshooting conveyors and printing presses. The role involves replacing and rewiring AC/DC motors, changing gearboxes and bearings, repairing hydraulic systems, MIG welding on steel materials, troubleshooting drives and PLCs, fabricating parts using drill presses and torches, and ordering parts through CMMS.Responsibilities
Perform maintenance on converting and paper machines.
Troubleshoot conveyors and printing presses.
Replace and rewire AC/DC motors from 480V to 2140V.
Change gearboxes and bearings.
Repair hydraulic systems, including changing filters and fluids, and repairing brake systems.
Perform MIG welding on steel materials.
Troubleshoot drives and PLCs.
Fabricate parts using drill presses and torches.
Order parts and receive work orders through CMMS.
Essential Skills
Electrical knowledge up to 480V 3 Phase with 24V Circuitry.
Mechanical work with industrial bearings, conveyors, or automated equipment.
Ability to read schematics.
Experience troubleshooting automated equipment.
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 2-3 years of experience in the maintenance field.
PLC knowledge - reading inputs/outputs.
Must have own tools.

It is temperature regulated in the winter and can become hot and humid in the summer due to the moisture from the printing presses. The manufacturing floor is exceptionally clean, with a dedicated pit for scrap materials. The dress code includes uniforms, safety glasses, and ear plugs. The maintenance team consists of 20 employees, and this role will work closely with 3 other maintenance technicians. Training will be on the 1st shift for three months (7am-3pm) before transitioning to the 2nd or 3rd shift.
