What you will do:

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with MercyOne standards.

Performs all duties and responsibilities on a regular rotating basis of the Environmental Services Technician I position.

Assist in the training of new Environmental Services Technician I employees.

Responds to calls noting questions or requests and making an appropriate response when a supervisor is unavailable.

Submits a bi-monthly schedule and rotation assignment schedule to the supervisor in order to ensure adequate 24-hour staffing for all assigned shifts to compensate for illnesses and other absences. Arranges for replacement staff coverage or redistributes workload responsibilities among existing staff members. Documents all scheduling changes.

Adjusts level of staffing according to patient census to meet flexed requirements.

Enforces Environmental Services polices and procedures as necessary.

Maintains and organizes inventory of all supplies and equipment.

Maintains basic knowledge of floor care maintenance.

Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policy & Procedure.

Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes.

Actively participates in department meetings, committees, conferences, and in services.

What we are looking for:

Completion of high school or GED is preferred but not required.

Previous janitorial and cleaning experience preferred.

Floor machine operation experience preferred.

Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.

Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.

Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. Healthstream, internet, etc.)

Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
