Work will include components of direct patient care, observation, documentation, transportation and general maintenance of the department.What you will Do:

Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks while addressing crisis situations as they arise.

Maintains equipment used in transporting patients to ensure the smooth operation of the department as well as patient safety. Includes the cleaning of equipment and reporting any repairs needed.

Identifies and communicates significant changes in patients status (potential or actual adverse patient occurrences).

Assists with maintaining appropriate levels of inventory by picking up needed materials and supplies when necessary.

Communicates and collaborates effectively with the multidisciplinary team members as well as patients, families and significant others.

Transports patients with IV pumps and /or oxygen to and from other departments as delegated. Requests assistance from other staff when needed.

Performs various other departmental functions on occasion such as delivering schedules, mail and routing messages. Performs office and clerical duties as assigned. Maintains carts, wheelchairs, linens, and O2 tanks and supplies.

Takes responsibility and maintains the safety of patients specific to their age-related needs in accordance with established policies and procedures, such as patient has call light within reach and wheelchair and cart brakes are locked.

Initiates appropriate measures to insure safety/well-being of patient, family, visitors and staff, i.e., side rails, restraints, fire, disaster.

Maintains cleanliness and organization of patient environment/department, utilizing the established cleaning procedures and appropriate supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma/GED or must be at least 16 years old and actively pursuing high school diploma.

Prefer completion a Nursing Assistant Program (Certified Nurse Aide) or other formal related coursework, i.e., Radiology Technology Student (after first quarter of training), Surgery Tech. LPN.

Would consider a minimum of 2 years of related patient care experience in lieu of coursework. Maintains certification in B.C.L.S.

Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.

Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.
