Purpose/Summary The Shift Superintendent in the Disc Area on 2nd Shift will lead and Coordinate activities of all Group Leaders and Associates in the Dept. on assigned shift to meetorganizational objectives of productivity, quality, employee relations, safety, continuous improvementand equipment utilization. Guarantees that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring Associates and organizing workflows. In a fast paced environment like production, the Shift Supervisor is an integral part of the manufacturing process. They must be competent and comprehend complex operations. They should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs. The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a safe and profitable manner. Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Assignment and coordination of all activities on assigned shift.
Assures all operations are in compliance with established procedures.
Provides oversight to training of Group Leaders and Associates.
Provides leadership for continuous improvement and APS activities.
Promotes and maintains good working relationships with assigned groups.
Assists in scheduling and capacity planning.
Maintains accurate records in production, attendance and quality.
Supports ABE's Quality system and loss control/safety programs through active involvement.
Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
High School Diploma / GED
One year of Akebono Supervisor experience
Leadership and/or Team building training/experience preferred
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to create and follow schedules
Organization skills and willingness to assume accountability for plant practices required
Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
QAD experience a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct supervisory responsibility. It will provide the team with direction and guidance to ensure projects are prioritized and planning processes provided are in place to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
Physical Demands/Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
