About the Position:

Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Green Construction Lead Instructor is focused on equity, community input, and engaging those who not only have the most to contribute, but also the most to gain from the emerging green economy. This position is the primary staff member responsible for the technical and soft skill instruction curriculum to prepare individuals for high-wage, high demand environmentally sustainable construction, and green infrastructure careers.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Delivery:

-Actively and directly, leads program delivery functions to participants, according to the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), OSHA 10, Clean Water Certificate (CWC), and other industry-based technical training

-Enhance LAGC’s curriculum and instruction based on industry standards and regulations, such as National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER), OSHA 10, and Clean Water Construction (CWC)

-Consistently provide information that supports well-structured experiences for participants in the classroom and during supervised fieldwork, supervising the content and techniques used by the instruction staff members to ensure program participants are prepared for career placement upon graduation.

-Prioritize tasks, manage resources, and work effectively under pressure to meet program goals and objectives

-Track program data and generate reports

Leadership and Supervision:

-Serve as a role model and actively direct fellow instructors and participants in the classroom and in the field to ensure that the goals and objectives of LAGC are met

-Provide evaluations and feedback on instructor performance and effectiveness

Supervision and Administration:

-Ensure that classroom and fieldwork placements meet safety standards, and remain up-to-date with OSHA regulations and other safety standards relevant to the industry.

-Supervise and provide coaching feedback to instructors and contract employees who deliver hard and soft skill instruction to participants.

-Obtain and maintain program data for reports and other written documents for program assessment.

Outreach, Employer Engagement, and Partnership Development:

-Build strong and lasting relationships with business and community partners, stakeholders, and program participants

-Promote LAGC’s programs effectively to potential partners and program participants to include all collateral materials

-Possess a strong understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Minimum 2 years of experience in either the construction, environmental sustainability, green or blue infrastructure fields with a portion spent as a Lead, Site Superintendent, Project Manager, or similar position.

-At least two-three years of experience in the workforce development field and at least one year of experience working and instructing youth and young adults.

-Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of construction codes, building materials, tool use and maintenance, and industry best practices for safety, durability, and quality.

-Highly competent in reading, interpreting, utilizing, and making adjustments or recommendations to construction documents such as blueprints and inspection reports.

-Ability to thrive by working independently toward a goal and prioritizing a project’s needs in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

-Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex procedures, tasks, and ideas in ways that are easy to understand.

-Proficient in MS Office Suite, Google Suite and the ability to contribute to the production of social media content.

-Current, valid drivers license, car insurance with state required limits at minimum, safe and reliable transportation

Compensation and Benefits:

Louisiana Green Corps offers a competitive salary range of $60k-$70k, commensurate with experience. Employee benefits include 75% medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement with a 3% employer match and a generous paid time off policy.
