Supplemental Information24-15 ES Sup SERO KS Environmental Scientist Supervisor OEC /SURVEILLANCE / SERO This position is in the Southeast Regional Office in theSurveillance Division within the Office of Environmental Compliance. This position is domiciled in Jefferson Parish. This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) as follows:Environmental Scientist Supervisor - $31.38 per hour or $2,510.20 biweeklyThe incumbent of this position performs administrative and supervisory duties in the Southeast Regional office under the Office of Environmental Compliance, Surveillance Division. The incumbent ensures that subordinate staff, consisting of ES 1, 2, 3 and 4 levels are adequately trained and capable of performing compliance inspections of permitted and unpermitted facilities, conducting ambient monitoring, and responding to spills, complaints and environmental incidents, consistent with the requirements of federal and state statutes, regulations, and Department policy. The incumbent assists the environmental manager with regional planning and directs field staff under his supervision in surveillance duties and response activities relative to air pollution control, water quality management, lead asbestos, hazardous and solid waste regulation, and waste tire management. Familiarity with the primary DEQ information systems to access work load allocations and ensure staff are completing their assignments, is required. The position requires the use of a state vehicle and environmental monitoring equipment in the performance of duties. Supervision is received from the Environmental Scientist Manager. No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy. This position will be filled using the generic option. NOTE: (For laboratory option)Professional level environmental laboratory experience is defined as experience gained in a governmental or private sector laboratory performing environmental laboratory analysis work involving compliance with federal and/or state environmental regulations.LIMS is defined as the database in which all analytical data generated by a laboratory is stored.Laboratory auditing is defined as on-site inspection of a laboratory for accreditation or certification purposes.SUBSTITUTIONS: (For both options)Graduate training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours in any of the qualifying fields for six months of experience.
