This position will be working with a small team performing Independent Assurance and Verification sampling and testing on Construction Projects, in MaineDOT laboratories or at Contractor Facilities. Work is performed under general supervision. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Performing sampling and testing of various construction materials in conformance with AASHTO, ASTM, and MaineDOT procedure.

Observing Maine DOT/consultant personnel performing acceptance sampling/testing.

Performing routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment

Traveling to and from various construction projects (potentially statewide), contractor facilities and DOT laboratories.

Regularly handle and manipulate heavy material samples and testing equipment without assistance.

Working safely with tools, testing equipment, and following all safety requirements.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.

Preference will be given to those with the following certifications:

NETTCP and/or MCTCB

HMA Paving Inspector

HMA Plant Technician

Soil and Aggregate Inspector

Concrete Technician
