Inventory Accountant

Description We are offering a contract for a permanent position as an Inventory Accountant based in Baltimore, Maryland. As an Inventory Accountant, you will be a vital part of our team, responsible for ensuring accurate inventory counts, rectifying inventory discrepancies, and improving inventory processes. You will also collaborate with different departments to optimize material flows and minimize inefficiencies, maintaining our commitment to continuous improvement.Responsibilities: Coordinate with plant personnel for conducting cycle counts, quarter-end counts, and year-end inventory while adhering to group policies. Record and address issues identified during inventory counts, ensuring prompt resolution. Conduct a thorough root cause analysis for recurring and one-off inventory discrepancies and propose suitable solutions. Evaluate and ensure the consistency of material master data across all areas of the plant. Collaborate with plant personnel for maintaining an efficient and functional warehouse layout. Accurately record all inventory adjustments in the ERP system. Support the Plant Controller in assessing slow-moving and off-spec materials for inventory provisions. Assist the Plant Controller in preparing and posting accounting journal entries related to the Baltimore site. Identify and implement strategies to enhance inventory controls onsite. Collaborate with other departments, including Shipping and Receiving, to optimize material flows across the site and minimize inefficiencies.Requirements Minimum of 2 years experience as an Inventory Analyst or in a similar role. Proficiency in Auditing, particularly in relation to inventory. Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal. Deep understanding of Inventory Cycles and their management. Demonstrated skills in Inventory Analysis and Audits. Solid knowledge of Inventory Accounting principles and procedures. Ability to generate detailed and accurate Inventory Reports. Experience with Year End Closings and Journal Entries. Familiarity with AS400 system for inventory management. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
