Purpose of Position:The LAN Administrator III will provide server and desktop support and management at the Carey Business School Harbor East campus. The LAN Administrator III will provide Advanced level server and systems support, ensuring servers in the Active Directory domain are secure and functioning correctly. In addition, the LAN Administrator III will be the point person for securing research data sets located on Faculty Workstations. The LAN Administrator III will manage a team of 3 Technical Support Analysts, providing scheduling, training and all other managing duties. The LAN Administrator III manages the technology at the Carey Harbor East Center. The LAN Administrator III reports to the Carey IT Manager.Knowledge and Skill:

Expert knowledge of virtual meeting spaces, Zoom, Polycom, etc.

Working knowledge of Crestron classroom and conference room controls.

Expert ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems and make repairs Advanced knowledge of and experience with Windows 2008/2012 servers.

Expert knowledge of imaging technology including SCCM and Microsoft MDM.

Expert understanding of network architecture.

Understanding of the interaction of a many types of networking peripherals.

Knowledge of scripting and Active Directory Group Policy.

Advanced knowledge of PC computer hardware, including microprocessors and peripherals and computer applications.

Advanced knowledge PC computer operating systems Windows10.

Advanced knowledge of MAC OS X.

Ability to direct junior staff.

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to exercise independent judgment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Knows the informal and formal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures that may include some familiarity of other departments within the school/division.

Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.

Must be able to lift 50lbs and use an 8ft extension ladder.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification:

Two years college course work required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Additional experience can be substituted for education.

Five years related experience required. Additional education can be substituted for experience.

Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits or 18 graduate degree credits = 1 year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.Internal and External Contacts:

Internal: Students, Faculty and Staff .

External: Vendors, non-JHU staff and Faculty who use space at Harbor East.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Include % of time):Performance Management: 40%

Hiring, training and development, performance management, coaching and counseling, and disciplinary action if warranted of three full-time and one part-time technical staff.

Assigns and prioritize work and schedules staff as needed to support the changing needs of the Center.

Job Duties 60%

Manage the technology at the Carey Harbor East Center.

LAN/WAN connectivity troubleshooting, network monitoring/management. PC support for staff, labs, library (approximately 250 PCs). Daily backup of servers.

Network configuration and administration of Windows 2008/2012 servers in an Active Directory domain.

Evaluates needs in coordination with faculty, recommends improvements, supervises installation and maintenance of hardware and software of labs for instructional and student use.

Evaluates needs in coordination with faculty, recommends improvements, and supervises installation and maintenance of audio/visual equipment for classrooms.

Advanced Crestron AV system troubleshooting in classrooms and conference rooms.

Management of desktops and laptops (installation, upgrade and maintenance of necessary software) through SCCM deployment tools, and various system software products.

Evaluation, recommendation and creation of installation procedures of new software for use by staff and faculty and students.

Maintains extra secure faculty research systems, ensuring the systems stay in compliance with the data owners.

Manage the Carey Harbor East Microsoft Deployment Server.

Creation of complex scripts to automate processes.

Manage and deploy the Alertus Emergency Announcement System at Carey.

Perform duties as the resident Cisco expert at Carey Harbor East, working closely with the Hopkins Networking team to troubleshoot complex issues.
