Medical Billing Specialist

Description We are in search of a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team operating in BALTIMORE, Maryland. In this role, you will be tasked with various responsibilities centered around medical billing and collections, including handling charge and payment corrections and coordinating with providers to ensure complete and accurate account/claim information. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Coordinate with providers to clarify incomplete or insufficient information for proper account/claim adjudication Correct, complete, and process claims for all payer codes, ensuring their accurate dispatch to insurance companies Conduct follow-up activities with Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care, and Commercial insurance companies for unpaid insurance accounts identified through aging reports Process online or paper appeals and refund requests Assist in the reconciliation of deposits and patient collections Contribute to billing audit-related activities Handle billing calls and questions from patients and third-party carriers, providing prompt and accurate responses Attend provider meetings/workshops as needed Identify and communicate trends and carrier issues relating to billing and reimbursements Maintain patient confidentiality while managing medical office operations.Requirements Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of medical billing. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory. Demonstrable experience with billing functions, claim administration, and collection processes is required. Should have a strong background in medical billing and medical collections. Familiarity with claims processing, insurance claims, and patient collections is necessary. Experience in handling refund requests is essential. Knowledge of medical coding is a plus. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
