About the Role:
Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a busy and well-established mechanic shop in Baltimore, MD. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a vital role in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery—including forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoes—to support efficient day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment such as forklifts, front loaders, bulldozers, and backhoes
Perform scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements) to ensure peak performance
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues
Use diagnostic software and tools to evaluate and pinpoint equipment malfunctions
Rebuild, replace, or upgrade faulty components as needed
Conduct safety checks to meet operational standards and regulatory compliance
Work with other departments to minimize equipment downtime and improve reliability
Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs
Support emergency repairs and assist with on-site service when necessary
Comply with all environmental, health, and safety guidelines
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years' experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in industrial, transportation, port, or logistics environments
At least 2 years’ experience with diesel engine replacement
Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Strong time management, multitasking, and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, or lie under equipment for extended periods
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions
