An activity of the business area is to manage major development activities to deliver and sustain capabilities to our world-wide Customers. A key functional area to delivering these outcomes is the R&D or Engineering Function.In order to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and assure timely delivery, it is essential for project managers to coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure appropiate effort is provided to each project.  This requires a robust tolls to allow prioritaztion of projects and resource assignment based upon key metrics.  This internship will focus on assisting current project managers in development and utilization of key project management tools and assisting in updating cross-funtional processes.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:Learn processes used by Smiths Detection for project initiation and management.Interface with key stakeholders to understand current gaps and identify places for improvement in project management processes.Optimize Jira-based interface for global, intra-company project requests.Author manuals and develop training for developed solution.Work on-site at Edgewood, MD.Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures, including business ethics, data protection and health & safety
