As a Data Center Technical Lead you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter.The Data Center Technical Lead support a team of operations personnel to manage the data centers, ensure alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), manage/approve maintenance schedules, shipping, receiving, rack management, cable plants, equipment refresh, installation/de-installation and full responsibility for proper operations and readiness to support HHS mission.HOW A DATA CENTER MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Manages data centers and optimizes its ongoing operations by utilizing Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) technology

Leads operations team and works with team of technicians, engineers and other professionals to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Ensure that all systems are functioning properly at all times. This includes ensuring that power supplies are working correctly, maintaining proper airflow within the facility, monitoring temperature levels, etc.to ensure HHS mission readiness.

Works with the Network Operations Center to ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting is in place and proactively escalating the potential for events.

Ensure all IT Datacenter infrastructure is managed to fulfill business needs through ongoing maintenance and support

Manage information technology systems, networks, hardware, software, storage and as well as outsourced partnerships

Accountable for the daily operations, support, backup, recovery and efficiency of server systems, data stores, and related enterprise framework

Responsible for the oversight, management and coordination of primary & secondary data centers and public & private cloud environment

Develop, monitor, and manage KPI's for all infrastructure systems

Develop and document processes, procedures, policies, and best practices for all infrastructure systems

Create the business continuity plan along with its disaster recovery strategy; Exercise the disaster recovery plan at least once a year in coordination with HHS ITIO staffpartners

Manage the delivery of agreed technology and support services within an approved budget and via a team based, customer centric approach.

Evaluate and recommend new technological systems and vendor products to develop system solutions that match or pre-empt business requirements as well as managing selected vendor relationships as required

Manage and mentor junior staff

Ensure effective communications and interaction with key associates involved in the delivery of the infrastructure solutions

Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and maintenance procedures and checklists

Provide 24 x7 x 365 support for technical issues, take task ownership, and facilitate till properly resolved

Participate in on-call activities and follow escalation process to support the infrastructure 24 x 7.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science

5+ years of related experience

2+ years of experience and success managing large data center operations

Demonstrated Communication (Verbal/Written) skills a must / Problem Solving

Must have the ability to be "on-call" to provide support for 24/7 environment

Location: Rockville, MD Customer Site (Hybrid)

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting.

US Citizenship or Green Card Holder required

Must have been in the US for at least 3 out of the last 5 years.

Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Demonstrated ability to administer and manage complex activities and projects of a policy, programmatic and technical nature, and achieve resolution of problems involving conflicting opinions. 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC’s regulatory programs, policies, and regulations. 4. Demonstrated ability to function as an organizational representative and liaison on substantive technical and policy issues. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience which demonstrates specific knowledge of engineering/scientific principles as it applies to the nuclear regulatory program, general knowledge of the principles of public administration and organizational management; and experience in the administration and management of complex projects requiring extensive coordination. Education Additional Information The duty location of this position is Rockville, MD. In general, employees are expected to be in the office at a minimum of 4 days per pay period. Telework schedules, including full-time telework, are approved, on a case-by-case basis.
