As we receive more requests and consults, we are looking to expand our team and to expand our hours of on-site coverage. This is a unique time where the team is shaping what spiritual care looks like and what it can be. It’s a time of huge need and huge opportunity to care for our community in customized, compassionate ways. This particular position is for per diem coverage across the hospital. Needs that arise include remote overnight coverage and onsite coverage on weekends and weekdays.Responsibilities of being a Chaplain at Tufts Medical CenterAssess and integrate sources of meaning, strength, and comfort for patients, loved ones, and staff

Provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, loved ones, and staff

Guide the hospital community in ritualizing, memorializing, and marking

Be an ambassador for and nurturer of love, kindness, and attention for the hospital community

Document all patient visits

Integrate as a regular member of the team on assigned units

Serve as a resource to the whole hospital when on-call

Participate in family meetings when appropriate

Collaborate across departments to meet community needs as they arise

Contribute to the on-call schedule as needs arise

Listen and respond compassionately to patients, families, and staff in threatening and stressful circumstances

Requirements for all Staff Chaplain positions at Tufts:

Completion of a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent degree

Completion of a CPE residency/4 units of CPE

Board certification in a professional chaplaincy organization or commitment to obtaining board certification

Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to care for a diverse patient/family community and to work beside a large interdisciplinary team in a ever-changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A Chaplain will work in normal office work environment, inpatient and outpatient clinic care areas, with potential accidental exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances.

Work will require occasional computer keying.
