You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.A Day in the LifeProvide legal advice and support within the US Sales Contracting organization on topics including, but not limited to, medical device and technology sales and marketing programs, commercial sales agreements, other commercial contracts, reimbursement, and other federal healthcare law, FDA law, employment law, government contracting, antitrust and dispute resolution.This position reports to the Legal Director, US Sales Contracting organization.This position will reside in Minneapolis, MN or another US Medtronic office location, or work remotely.Responsibilities include the following:

Provides legal advice, counsel and service to internal business clients on legal issues.

Provide guidance, structure, draft, and negotiate agreements with respect to various strategic opportunities, such as new and innovative sales programs, discount arrangements, group purchasing organization agreements, technology agreements, distribution, capital sales programs, or service and repair agreements.

Draft, review, revise and negotiate contracts.

Work collaboratively with other lawyers, paralegals and administrative staff to provide legal counsel for the areas described above.

Keeps current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies.

Advises business partners regarding concerns on risk assessment, Anti-kickback Statute, Data Privacy and Security, and Antitrust regulations.

Must have admission to practice law.

May develop, review, or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training programs for the areas described above.

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized US law school

5+ years of legal experience working with commercial contracts as an In-house corporate attorney, or with a law firm with significant exposure to business transactions law, contract law, and commercial litigation

NICE TO HAVE:

Experience supporting Sales and Marketing

Federal Healthcare Law experience, including Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA and other data privacy laws, FDA law and regulations

Government contracting experience

Direct client contact

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

Superior common sense and judgment

Integrity and strong ethical center

Exceptional advocacy in negotiating skills

This person will report to the General Counsel and assist in all aspects of legal affairs. This role involved significant interaction with the senior leadership team. EOE is looking for a driven attorney, with strong writing skills and a passion for public service, who can multi-task and meet deadlines to support the legal needs of the Secretariat. Preferred Qualifications: Admitted to the Massachusetts Bar as a member in good standing and eligible to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; At least five years of relevant legal experience, including experience in counseling clients, legal research and analysis, oral and written advocacy, and creative problem solving preferably in an in-house or outside counsel role to public agencies, private businesses, or other organizations; A highly motivated team player with a demonstrated ability to take complicated material and present it to legal and non-legal audiences; Professional manner and ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with agencies within the EOE, other agencies within state government, and community partners; Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced and collaborative team, troubleshooting, developing solutions, and making recommendations; and Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, and Outlook.
