The three Coordinators each have core duties to the Center and the members, but also each have a special focus as summarized below. The Coordinators work together, as well as with the Manager, peer leaders, and members, to ensure that the Recovery Support Center is a safe, welcoming, supportive, and consistent community for people who are sober and in recovery. Coordinators must be committed to championing recovery, providing and encouraging peer-to-peer support and helping to shape and organize the overall Peer Participatory Process that is the heart of the RSC model. Coordinators are expected to act as positive role models and peer mentors, providing guidance, support, and access to key resources that help members on their recovery journey, no matter what pathway of recovery they choose.The Community Outreach Coordinator is a vital member of the Recovery Support Center. This position is part of a team of employees, who work together to ensure that the Recovery Support Center is a safe, welcoming, supportive and consistent community for people who are sober and in recovery. The Community Outreach Coordinator provides guidance, knowledge, support and access to resources within SFH and/or within the local Boston area while respecting and supporting the pathway of recovery the member may choose. The Community Outreach Coordinator champions’ recovery provides and encourages peer-to-peer support to help, shape and organize the overall Peer Participatory Process that is the heart of the RSC model.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Stays up to date about resources for members at St. Francis House.

Acts as a key connector to SFH services that can benefit members.

Explores the local Boston area for ideas of people and organizations that could make positive contributions to the Center and its members.

Conducts outreach to educate and inform the Boston community about the Center services and find ways to promote Multiple Pathways of Recovery.

Provides coaching/mentoring to members

Upholds Center’s Code of Ethics, Boundaries with and between members and illustrate trauma-informed, recovery oriented values

Reinforces positive messages of recovery through actions, including language that represents a stigma-free community.

Participates and assists fellow coordinators in providing support for peer led activities and events as well as collaborating with other SFH staff to engage and support members to other SFH programs

Welcomes people to the center, provides center orientations, membership enrollments, and scan membership cards.

Intervenes respectfully to ensure members are abiding by the shared expectations, practices and values of the Center.

Enters basic information into database that keeps all required documentation current to track member participation.

All Coordinators:

Promotes safety for all members by ensuring that people in the Center are contributing positively to the recovery community.

Upholds Center’s Code of Ethics and illustrates trauma-informed, recovery-oriented values.

Reinforces positive messages of recovery through personal words and actions, including ensuring that language is stigma-free.

Champions peer-based recovery services and encourage people to join and become active in the community

Participate in and provide support for peer led activities and events

Have an active and engaging presence in the day-to-day operations of the Center. Be available to members and build professional and supportive relationships around recovery, wellness, and personal growth.

Welcomes people to the center. Provides Center orientations, conducts membership applications, and scans membership cards.

Provides supportive redirection and/or referral for those whose presentation may suggest possible substance use or whose behavior is not consistent with the center’s expectations.

Intervenes swiftly and respectfully with members when necessary, to ensure everyone is abiding by the shared rules and values of the Center.

Helps members to organize themselves and their thoughts and ideas. Provides encouragement to members to get more deeply involved.

Helps members to generate ideas for activities and resources that promote recovery by ensuring a focus on mind, body, and spirit.

Practices motivational interviewing and other techniques central to recovery coaching practices.

Ensures consistency and follow-through on commitments.

Stays up to date on recovery and treatment resources. Promotes resources and provide information through postings, flyers, conversations, meetings, etc.

Collaborates with other SFH staff to engage and support individual members and participants in other SFH programs.

Be actively engaged in professional development and growth. Actively participates in training and workshops.

Enter basic information into database and keeps all required documentation current.

Tracks attendance at activities and events. Helps to organize and conduct annual member survey.

Participates in weekly individual and group supervision with Program Manager.

Adheres to agency code of conduct.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of one year of experience working directly with people experiencing homelessness and or substance abuse/recovery.

Lived experience with substance recovery required with a minimum of three years sobriety and active engagement in recovery practices.

Lived experience with homelessness preferred.

Experience, commitment and compassion with persons experiencing homelessness and/or may have additional challenges related to mental and/or physical health and/or various types of disabilities.

Training and completion in the Recovery Coach Academy and training in motivational interviewing a plus.

Experience using Microsoft Word (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) software, and extensive knowledge of HMIS database software.

Bilingual Spanish a preferred.
