Requirements

Develop and monitor processes for the review and timely submission of grant and contract proposals to funding agencies.

Identify issues in pre-award workflows, provides recommendations to SPA leadership for resolution, and works with the appropriate offices for implementation of solutions.

Collaborate with other institutional offices to develop and maintain resources/programs to support researchers with the development and writing of quality grant proposals.

Assist in the review of proposed cost-share commitments, Facilities and Administrative (F&A) waivers, and other requests and make recommendation for approval or non-approval.

Develop and maintain performance metrics for pre-award activities.

Track grant and contract proposals, collect and share proposal data with SPA leadership and Vice President of Research Operations.

Serve as subject matter expert on complex applications and sponsor regulations.

Provide guidance, technical expertise, and training to Research Administrators and Principal Investigators on complex pre-award and contractual sponsored project compliance matters such as budgeting, cost allowability, PI and other key personnel eligibility and change

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. 5 years of related work experience

7-8 years of research administration experience including supervisory experience may substitute for degree

Experience with budget development.

Experience with proposal submissions to federal funding agencies and other sponsor institutions.

Broad understanding of college, university and sponsored research environment.

Supervisory and leadership experience

Serve as the pre-award lead and Signature Official for institutional, cross-department applications, e.g. Mass Life Sciences (MLSC), PCORI, or Program Project Grants, to ensure institutional objectives are clearly communicated and incorporated into the proposal/budget, plus any institutional support requirements are committed and appropriately documented, coordinating with assigned Research Administrators as appropriate. Provide project management support for the initial set-up and administration of these awards Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer’s office to manage the process for notification, review, and submission of limited submission grants as well as any internal institutional grant opportunities. Collaborate with the RAPIT Director in preparing templates and other resource documents to assist Research Administration teams and Principal Investigators with various components of grant and contract proposals Serve as a backup in the review of outgoing grant and contract proposals for institutional approval prior to submission to funding agencies.
