Direct the organization wide comprehensive tax planning and reporting process. Oversee all areas of the Finance Department’s regulatory tax compliance obligations
Plan, coordinate, prepare and file by the due date all federal and state tax returns for the Children’s Hospital Corporation, the Children’s Medical Center Corporation and its Subsidiaries, and other legal entities that may fall under the Corporate umbrella
Oversee and confirm that the Finance Dept, including the Children’s Hospital Trust, is in compliance with all of its regulatory obligations as they relate to tax matters
Project lead the quantification of Community Benefits for tax and internal and external financial reporting purposes
Direct, research, and report on the implications of any unrelated business income arising from the Institution’s private real estate investments, and the Endowment and/or Pension Fund’s investments in alternatives including hedge fund and private equity partnerships
Oversee, research, and report on the implications of any unrelated business income arising from Hospital operations
Oversee and confirm the Hospital is in compliance with laws relating to the use of tax-exempt bond proceeds
Advise on other issues with tax and/or compliance implications including compensation, payroll tax and philanthropic gifts

Prepares excess compensation filing on an annual basis.
Supports the annual audit process via completion of the year end Audit Tax Compliance Questionnaire & FIN48 Analysis
Ensures compliance with 501(r) requirements through ongoing monitoring
Registers the Organization in new jurisdictions for teleworkers
Completes the Massachusetts Abandoned Property Filing on an annual basis
Prepares and files quarterly sales tax returns
Supports ad-hoc requests that routinely arise in the normal course of business
Prepares and files annual property tax exemptions
Maintains tax oriented internal controls
To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s degree is preferred.
8-10 years of public/private accounting tax and compliance experience, preferably with large academic medical centers
Leadership and supervisory experience with project management expertise
Experience with large academic medical centers is preferred
Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation is preferred
Expert working knowledge of Not-for Profit Accounting and Tax Reporting
Strong written and oral presentation and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work with senior executives, Board of Trustees, and outside constituents
The abilities to operate in a matrixed organizational structure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential
Expert proficiency in Hospital Tax Reporting Software and Excel is required. Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint is preferred
