Nightshade Server/Bartenders
Nightshade Noodle Bar, acclaimed French & Vietnamese tasting menu restaurant from Chef/Owner Rachel Miller, a finalist for the 2023 Outstanding Chef award by the James Beard Foundation and a semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast 2024, is currently accepting applications for a Full-time Server/Bartender to join their small and passionate team. Nightshade Noodle Bar, recipient of an elusive 5-star review in The Boston Globe and named among the top 25 restaurants in Boston by The New York Times, offers eclectic nine to twenty-one-course blind tasting experiences featuring local and luxury seafood and noodle dishes, chic jungle vibes + unique tropical cocktails to downtown Lynn.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Treat all guests and teammates with dignity and respect while facilitating a tailored dining experience.
Possess a deep understanding of the daily-changing menu along with commonly used ingredients.
Be a liaison between the guests and the Chef by ensuring that dietary restrictions, occasion requests and all other relevant information are communicated and addressed.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the beverage program and an ability to offer beverage pairings and describe beverage offerings.
Maintain ambiance by ensuring spotless glassware, linens, table settings and menu cleanliness/condition.
Approach Nightshade’s hospitality standards with creativity and enthusiasm
Attend all food and beverage training classes.
Qualifications:
Professionals with 3-5 years of experience serving/bartending in a high-end restaurant who are organized and dedicated with a deep appreciation for the hospitality industry. Experience using Tock and Toast POS systems preferred.
Skills/ Competencies Required:
Commitment to creative, warm, and consistent hospitality.
Prior experience serving and selling a rotating wine and spirit list, and comfort selling items at higher prices.
Ability to model standards and anticipate guest and team needs.
Ability to uphold a standard of learning and training with independence and pride.
Solution-oriented approach to challenges and a generally positive attitude.
A genuine desire to learn and grow as a professional in the service industry.
Ability to stand for long periods and use two hands to run food and clear tables.
Working Conditions:
This position is full-time, Thursday through Sunday (we are only open 4 days per week). Shifts start as early as 3pm and end as late as 1am. Shorter training and project-based shifts will also be required occasionally, usually on Wednesday afternoons.
The check average at Nightshade Noodle Bar is $300-$400, and a 20% administrative fee is included on all orders in lieu of a tip. Nightshade Noodle Bar reservations generally book out several weeks in advance. Schedules are consistent and, for the most part, set in stone. Paychecks are issued weekly.
