Nightshade Host/Hostess
General Summary:
Nightshade Noodle Bar, an acclaimed French & Vietnamese tasting menu restaurant from Chef/Owner Rachel Miller, a finalist for the 2023 Outstanding Chef award by the James Beard Foundation and a semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast 2024, is currently accepting applications for a Full-time Host/Hostess to join their small and passionate team. Nightshade Noodle Bar, recipient of an elusive 5-star review in The Boston Globe and named among the top 25 restaurants in Boston by The New York Times, offers eclectic nine to twenty-one-course blind tasting experiences featuring local and luxury seafood and noodle dishes, chic jungle vibes + unique tropical cocktails to downtown Lynn.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Initial point of contact with guests
Manage reservations with the support of the General Manager
Manage the phones during service and follow up with guests as needed
Assist the FOH team in opening and closing the restaurant.
Maintain ambiance by keeping glassware, linens, and table settings stocked and ensuring menu cleanliness/condition.
Anticipate proper questions and follow up regarding allergies and other guest details to ensure safety and thrilled guests.
Assist the FOH team in bussing and resetting tables quickly.
Attend all food and beverage training classes.
Qualifications:
The Host position is integral to the high-touch experience that we offer at Nightshade Noodle Bar. Each experience is customized to guest preferences, so good communication skills, warm and bright hospitality, and a confident presence are required. Experience using the Tock reservation platform and Toast POS system is ideal but not required. Some experience in a full service restaurant is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:
This position is ideally full-time, Thursday through Sunday (we are only open four days per week). Shifts start as early as 4 p.m. and end as late as 10:30 p.m. Part-time candidates who otherwise fit the description should feel free to reach out, as we may have other opportunities available. Compensation is based on experience and begins at $19/hr.
