We are looking for a responsible, experienced, and cheerful home health aide for our mother, who's in her early eighties and has memory problems. She is ambulatory and an interesting conversationalist with a lot of personality, and makes a concerted effort to be as self-reliant as possible, but tends to forget things like taking her medication, and needs round the clock assistance in case of potential emergencies such as falls. She lives in a house overlooking the ocean in Swampscott, on the North Shore.
The hours for this position would be either (a) weekdays 12 hours per day or (b) 12 hours per night in the evenings, and weekends. If working weekdays, the aide will need to be able to offer transportation and accompany her to medical visits. The aide will need to be able to do grocery shopping and other errands.
The aide must have a car, be able to speak good English, have basic computer literacy (for helping her make doctor's appointments online and that kind of thing), be easy to reach by text message, and have up to date flu and Covid vaccinations (and be willing to get future vaccinations when available).
The aide should have good references and be willing to submit to a background check. Experience with clients who have memory problems would be useful.
