This position supports the Open Communication Systems (OCS) product area within the Mission Systems strategic business unit of Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies business. OCS provides secure processing platforms and capabilities to both domestic and international customers. This specific position will provide software project and team management for a growing product line within the mission area.This position is eligible for relocation assistance.Responsibilities: Managing a mid-sized team (typically 10 - 20 employees) consisting of experienced professionals and more junior employees with focus on technical excellence, execution, and implementation Leading, directing, and reviewing the work of the team while respecting each team member’s ability to exercise latitude and independence Managing staffing, hiring, promotion, and rewards within the team Providing guidance for new products, processes, and standards and ensuring that new approaches are implemented by the team Providing technical leadership of small projects, teams, or processes Designing, developing, and testing software solutions that meet technical requirements within cost and schedule constraints Collaborate within a dynamic multi-disciplined environment Effectively communicate software status, issues, and risks and opportunities to varied audiences including engineering leadership, program leadership, and customersQualifications/Experience Needed: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience Experience in Software Engineering to include experience working various phases of the software development lifecycle Experience with agile lifecycle process including scrum, continuous integration/continuous deployment, or test-driven development methodologies Experience with software development using C, C, or Python Experience working in a collaborative team environment that includes communication with other engineering, program, and external stakeholders Ability to mentor and motivate teams Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to document and effectively communicate software engineering approach, constraints, design and rationale to various audiences Demonstrated technical leadership of small projects, teams, or processes Active SECRET Security Clearance or higher REQUIREDSecurity Clearance: Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Software Project Lead, Product Owner, or Scrum Master Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of projects or IPTs, including work scheduling, staffing, earned-value management, risk and opportunity management, software cost estimation, task and project prioritization, staff coaching, and process execution Ability to solve technical problems through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues Ability to work with hardware and systems engineering to solve multi-disciplined issues Experience spanning the design, implementation, testing, and integration of real-time embedded software Knowledgeable in Communication Systems or similar domainsCollins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Employee Referral Eligible The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
