X-Ray Technologist

Hours may also be 7:00am-3:30pm or 7:30am-4:00pm. Will participate in an on-call rotation to fit department needs.

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION

Perform a wide variety of technical procedures, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Requires initiative to apply appropriate skills to facilitate a diagnosis. May be assigned independent responsibilities by Lead Technologist, Administrative Director, or Operations Manager. Proper care of the client in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. May be responsible for assigned areas to assume responsibilities of supervision or instruction to department personnel as determined by Operations Manager or Lead Technologist. Practices infection control and body substance isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental and hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems. Demonstrates ability to operate and trouble shoot CR, DR and PACs applications. Attends annual mandatory education to include blood borne pathogens, infection control, and body substance isolation. Maintains department competencies as required

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:

Minimum of Student Training.

Education and Training:

Must have completed formal AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

License, Certification & Registration:

MALIC - Massachusetts Radiology License

CPR -CPR Required.

ARRT(RTR) - Registered Technologist Radiography

Other Requirements:

Ability to function independently and proficiently in a high stress, work intensive environment. Attendance at all mandatory education is required.

Has verbal ability to use and understand medical terminology to fulfill quickly and accurately Surgeons and Nurses instructions. Ability to meet the needs of the patients for safety, comfort, and reassurance required. Rotation on-call system participation required. May be required to rotate to weekends as needed. Must be willing to cross-train to Crane Center & Sterile Processing. Must be willing to function in other capacities needed for the department. Capable of rapid and accurate movements of body and hands in response to visual and audio stimuli. Able to perform a variety of duties in the Operating Room under supervision of the Registered Nurse. Able to show competency in all surgical equipment used at BMC and Crane ORs.
