Assistant Vice President, Payroll & Benefits Martignetti Companies is
the leading distributor of wine and spirits in New England. From our
Taunton Office, our Human Resources team supports approximately 1,700
employees at peak times. Our employees are in Massachusetts, New
Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Connecticut. There are minimal travel
expectations associated with this role, however on occasion you will
visit the various office locations. With continued growth, Martignetti
Companies is seeking a hands-on leader as the AVP, Payroll & Benefits,
to join our HR team. In this role, you will oversee all things payroll
and benefits, including managing and monitoring administrative costs of
our systems and programs, and recommending alternative business-aligned
solutions, process improvements, and special projects. This position is
eligible to participate in our hybrid work schedule, which includes
three days in the office per week and two days remote. What You'll Do
Hands on leader who will manage both the benefits and payroll strategy
and teams across 3 companies Thorough understanding and ability to jump
in and help during busy periods with the processing of payroll for 3
companies on a weekly and biweekly basis to include hourly, salary,
commissioned and unionized employees Audit payroll, and approve payroll
transactions to ensure all amounts and payment dates are accurate
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and HR teams to report material
changes, costs, and forecasts Organize company-wide benefits needs
assessments and surveys, analyze results, and develop various employee
benefits programs, such as retirement plans, life insurance, medical
insurance, etc. Communicate and negotiate with various compensation, and
benefits providers to identify vendors and solutions suitable for our
employees and cost-effective for the business Create and manage annual
payroll and benefits budget and manage to the budget Maintain good
working relationships with benefits providers, consultants, brokers, and
auditors Understand the business and be able to identify improvement and
efficiency opportunities Coordinate and partner with compliance and
legal teams to execute internal and external compliance audits, while
ensuring labor legislation, multi-state payroll processing, employee
insurance and tax laws are compliant Ensure that all benefits programs
comply with company policy and relevant state and federal regulations in
alignment with fully or self-insured governance Requirements What We're
Looking For Proven experience of at least eight years managing teams and
leading the Payroll and Benefits function Hands-on experience with
payroll and benefits software like Paylocity and Bswift Knowledge of
best practices in processing multi-state payroll, payroll taxation,
garnishments, disability, and workers' compensation insurance,
including oversight of open enrollment and all benefits programs and
plans. Significant experience in payroll management and benefits
Advanced Excel, V lookups, complex calculations, simulations, graphing,
data visualization In-depth knowledge of labor legislation, tax
regulations, and benefits compliance requirements Knowledge of US
retirement savings regulations, with a demonstrated track record of
successfully managing 401(k) and Pension program initiatives A high
level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive employee
information. BS or Master's in Human Resources Management or Finance
