Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary

Responsible to support the manufacturing organization to ensure that production goals are met, processes are optimized and to support efficient operations within the production area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and implement significant cost savings annually via continuous improvement programs
  • Optimize manufacturing processes and productivity leveraging production data.
  • Ensure effective product life cycle management
  • Advanced troubleshooting of device failures using electromechanical test and diagnostics skills including
    • Optical sub systems
    • High Voltage sub systems
    • Mechanical assemblies


  • Lead the development, implementation, and training related to changes in structure, functionality, and processes as a function of the transition of global CRM, ERP, PLM, and information systems in the Operations module.
  • Act as a change management leader / influencer to mature process and ensure new processes and procedures are appropriately understood and adopted within the organization
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality consciousness among staff members to ensure compliance with all regulatory matters involving logistics and all Quality targets established to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Corrects problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues.
  • Implement and characterize new processes including leading the design, procurement, and validation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with suppliers on new specifications and address quality issues.
  • Interfaces with engineering in integrating new products or processes into manufacturing and ensures Design for Manufacturability feedback is provided.
  • Able to identify strategic areas of opportunity and drive to closure, either independently or through management of cross-functional teams.
  • Represent Supply Chain Operations on and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Facilitate design for manufacturability/assembly/test and seamless execution of new product/process/equipment introductions at OEM, contract manufacturer and in-house
  • Provide thorough engineering solutions aligned with business needs leveraging value stream mapping
  • Enhance 6S and other lean principles by empowering/training the workforce
  • Execute strategies to expand global operations
  • Define and roll out best practices to optimize profitability, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Mentors junior level engineers.
  • Establish and lead governance, SOPs, program management and KPI including root cause investigation and correction
  • Initiate and execute end-to-end programs with risk mitigation, milestone tracking, quantified improvements and executive updates
  • Embody and deliver the " Exceptional Everyday"


Qualifications

Education

Bachelor' s degree required in engineering/technology

Specific Area of Study:

Experience

  • 10+ years of overall experience
  • Specific Related Experience: Minimum two years in electronics and/or optics manufacturing. Familiarity with medical device manufacturing and documentation is highly recommended.

  • Strong analytical skills: demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret operations data and make recommendations based on trend analysis.
  • Experience Managing significant capital budgets
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in resolving a variety of highly complex issues and providing solutions aligned with business needs
  • Experience managing OEM and contract manufacturers in addition to in-house manufacturing
  • FMEA, statistical process control, CAPA
  • Ideally experience with regulatory, ISO and FDA with electromechanical medical devices
