We are looking for people with a strong sense of purpose and focus to continually build confidence in yourself and our organization.ResponsibilitiesPosition OverviewThe Youth Villages Massachusetts Development Coordinator is a highly motivated self-starter who is versatile and organized. This person has excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong understanding of donor management systems, grant writing, donor cultivation, donor research, event management, and general fundraising principles. This position reports to the Development Manager.Responsibilities:
Manage Salesforce database
Process all gifts including in-kind contributions daily
Process and send all gift acknowledgements with approval from Director of Development
Work directly with Finance Department to reconcile revenue on a monthly, annual and one-off basis
Maintain a high level of database integrity by performing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual database audits
Provide general database and analytical reports to the MA development team as needed
Create and perform trainings to staff related to database best practices
Identify and route donors and donations through a tiered Donor Relations & Stewardship system.
Conduct research and create/maintain profiles on annual fund, volunteer, major gift, planned gift, foundation and board prospects
Provide research summaries; and produce written reports on proposals and initiatives, as needed
Work closely with the Chief Development Officer, Executive Director, and development team to accurately track, record, and update donors about major, restricted, and special gifts and pledges
Manage foundation research, timelines and deadlines and collaborate with Director of Development on drafting proposals and grant reports.
Maintain grant deadline calendar
Draft letters of inquiry, grant proposals and grant reports on a regular basis
Ongoing research of potential funding opportunities for Youth Villages New England
Manage New England’s Internal Our Family Campaign
Manage all in-kind donation requests from staff and solicit donations as appropriate
Present to all new employees about the Our Family Campaign
Plan and execute all OFC events in the fall for staff
Provide support and assistance to the Director of Development and Development Manager
Assist Special Events Manager with event needs before, during, and after special events
Manage and execute at least two smaller scale events to support our Holiday Heroes and Backpack Heroes initiatives
Assist Volunteer and Donor Engagement Coordinator with volunteer events and trainings as needed
Prepare Quarterly MA Board reports for related activities to be shared with national and local board members
Work with team to create and maintain YV Massachusetts policies and procedures manual for the development team
Assist the MA Development Team on various projects and administrative tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director of Development and Development Manager
QualificationsRequirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet. Salesforce experience preferred.
Ability to adopt new software tools quickly and effectively (with proper training).
Ability to manage tight deadlines and fluctuating workload.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to prioritize competing demands.
Proactive problem-solver who shows initiative and shares ideas.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong writing skills.
Strong relationship building skills (experience working with volunteer and/or community groups preferred)
Experience with relational databases.
Experience in a development/fundraising setting.
Experience with prospect research.
Occasional day travel within Massachusetts (must have a car)
Occasional night and weekend availability required for job related events
