We have over 65,000 employees and a presence in virtually every country around the world to address some of the most challenging global health issues.Summary/Purpose of PositionThe Production Supervisor is responsible for achieving safety, quality, and operational goals by coordinating the workflow, ensuring procedures are followed, and monitoring the cleanliness of the production areas. Ensures personnel operate assembly equipment and in-process instrumentation to manufacture medical devices in accordance to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policy and safety regulations. In addition, this position is responsible for direct supervision, leadership, training, measuring and monitoring of processes and personnel, and scheduling of all production personnel, including conducting performance reviews and making staffing recommendations and selections.Essential Duties and Position ResponsibilitiesManage the work direction and performance of production employees in multiple product lines, including, manufacturing on a day to day basis to meet production goals.
Monitor equipment and personnel performance to meet requirements, adjusting shifts and resources as needed.
Recruit, mentor and write/communicate performance appraisals of manufacturing operations staff and partner with Human Resources on any personnel issues that may arise.
Provide timely and effective feedback to personnel based on individual quality and productivity performance among other competencies.
Evaluate processes and strive for continuous improvement in all areas (cost, throughput, etc.).
Generate and revise standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as required.
Follow established manufacturing procedures, inventory control procedures and Quality System Regulations and monitor day to day compliance of department personnel and identify areas of continuous improvement.
Make recommendations for improvements in cost reduction/processes and equipment.
Monitor production to ensure work environment is clean and safe.
Follow established Safety and Health Physics procedures and regulations and monitor day to day compliance of department personnel and identify areas of continuous improvement.
Support an environment of open communication and employee involvement.
Perform employee training and monitor departmental compliance with all applicable procedures and regulations.
Conduct team meetings to effectively communicate goals and production performance.
Works closely with Logistics, Engineering, Safety, and Quality Assurance to optimize efficiency, adherence to regulations and procedures, and changes in requirements.
Assist in production when needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:High School Diploma or GED required. Business or technical engineering degree preferred.
Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
Previous medical device (or other FDA regulated industry) experience required.
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of GMP’s and current FDA medical device regulations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required, should be able to understand basic Engineering terminology.
Basic mathematical abilities of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required. Some ability to apply basic concepts of basic algebra and geometry are desirable.
Production Supervisor should be able to translate higher level direction into specific tasks or assignments for Technicians or Specialists in order to meet requirements and departmental targets. Must have the ability to both take direction and make decisions regarding day to day manufacturing operations as appropriate.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
Must be familiar with ERP/MRP concepts and preferably have experience with software for these applications
Key RelationshipsManage and supervise the product flow from Bulk Manufacturing, packaging, and sterilization/final packaging for multiple product lines.
