Connect with your Talent Advisor for additional specifics.ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for submitting claims to insurance companies, working front-end payer edits, following up on outstanding accounts receivable, payment monitoring and denials management for the hospital?s physician clinics. Occasional coverage of the Hospital?s cashier office and duties is also required. This position may require transitioning between multiple work areas.
Work assigned front-end payer edits.
Work follow-up and denial work queues, documenting activity on the account.
Run Aged Trial Balance Reports and initiate appropriate follow up, taking and documenting necessary actions (ie: calling insurance companies, writing appeals, etc.) to resolve open accounts.
Secure and submit needed medical documentation requested by insurance companies in a timely manner.
Audit and research accounts, payment postings and contractuals to confirm account balance accuracy.
Process late charge reports regularly and submit charges to insurance companies.
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient, insurance company and provider inquiries, making sure to document pertinent information.
Daily and timely preparation of outbound related mail and delivery to mail room/cashiers office.
Provide back-up coverage for cashier as needed.
RequirementsEducation:
High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, required.
Post-high school coursework in medical billing & coding, medical terminology preferred.
Work Experience:
Minimum one year customer service experience required.
Previous experience with medical billing in a physician office setting required.
Experience with explaining or understanding patient account billing activity required.
Minimum one year experience with automated billing systems in a hospital setting required.
Minimum one year experience with accounts receivable follow-up preferred.
Minimum one year experience interpreting, explaining and responding to insurance voucher / explanation of benefits communication.
Minimum one year experience working with CMS-1500 and UB-04 claim forms required.
Knowledge of APHS physician clinic practices, procedures and related regulatory requirements required.
Knowledge of APHS orthopedic clinic practices required to work in orthopedic clinic.
