This person will provide product design and release services to the Powertrain Engineering Department. This position is located in Allen Park, MI. As a Sr. Powertrain Product Engineer, you will:
Translate customer needs into design requirements and feasible design concepts
Apply relevant engineering analysis to create new component & subsystem designs
Work with CAD resources to develop 3D models and 2D prints
Generate dFMEA for new/unique technical content
Develop and execute hardware validation strategies for new content and maintain DVP&R documentation
Manage CAE resources to analytically validate designs
Process data, document test results, and report on status both internally as well as externally to customers
Interface and coordinate with suppliers to deliver both protype parts and production solutions
Support prototype and pre-production build events
Support production launch for responsible components/systems
To be considered as a Sr. Powertrain Product Engineer, you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree
Minimum of (4) years of relevant experience
Basic understanding of all powertrain subsystems
ICE engine
Air Induction & Filtration
Exhaust & Aftertreatment Systems
Fuel Systems (gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels such as CNG & LPG)
Powertrain Cooling & Thermal Systems (engine cooling, battery thermal management, and HVAC)
Advanced applied skills in 1 or more powertrain subsystems
Working knowledge of generic product development tasks from inception to production
Applied skills to develop dFMEA and DVP&R documents
Working knowledge of GD&T
A successful candidate may also have:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
High mechanical aptitude
Ability to work both independently and in team settings while possibly handling multiple assignments simultaneously
Ability to handle new, and sometimes unfamiliar technical assignments with minimal guidance
Basic 3D CAD software capabilities (to be able to generate initial basic design concepts/sketches)
MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
