CASUAL POSITION-DAYSGENERAL SUMMARY: The Behavior Technician will report to the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Board-Certified assistant Behavior Analyst at Beaumont’s Center for Exceptional Families. The Behavior Technician shall be responsible for implementing behavior analytic interventions for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Works collaboratively with Center for Exceptional Families’ staff, patients and patients’ families in order to provide behavior analytic services to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, under the direction and supervision of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Implements interventions to reduce problem behavior under the direction of Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and/or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Collects data as directed by Board Certified Behavior Analyst and/or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior analyst that can be used to determine effectiveness of interventions to decrease problem behavior. Implements behavior analytic (focused or comprehensive) instruction program to teach skills, under the direction of Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and/or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Collects skill acquisition data necessary to determine effectiveness of intervention program as directed by Board Certified Behavior Analyst and/or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Maintains appropriate documentation of assessment and treatment to meet hospital and insurance billing guidelines. Adheres to all ethical guidelines outlined by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. Participates in regular ongoing curriculum meetings with BCBA and families as primary Behavior Technician.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Work Experience :

Preferred experience in childcare or work with children with special needs, mental health related experience or education, interest or class work in Allied Health Degrees.

Certification, Licensure, Registration :

Candidate must be certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Registered Behavior Technician, currently enrolled in Registered Behavior Technician training, or commitment to complete Registered Behavior Technician training at the Beaumont Exceptional Families Autism Center and obtain certification as a Registered Behavior Technician.

Other Qualifications :

Basic understanding of principals of behavior analysis preferred.

Exposure to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities preferred.

Ability to model intervention for trainees and patients’ family members.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to collect data.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification preferred and required within six months of start date.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Effort :

Strength-Position requires ability to frequently push/pull up to 50 lb. objects such as when setting up equipment or positioning patient; ability to support/assist with a person’s body weight when assisting/performing transfers or gait training. Position requires ability to lift objects more than 50 lbs. with others, constantly lift objects up to 20 lbs. and frequently lift up to 40 lbs.

Manual Dexterity-Position requires incumbent to constantly perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking and simple manipulative skills such as writing. Position requires incumbent to frequently perform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as positioning patients and/or difficult manipulative skills such as equipment set up, use and/or calibration.

Coordination-Position requires incumbent to constantly perform gross body coordination such as walking, stooping and/or assisting with patient transfers. Frequently perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as assisting patients and tasks which require arm-hand steadiness such as taking patients temps and pulses and blood pressures and/or equipment set up.

Mobility-Positions requires incumbent to constantly walk and stand; occasionally sit for prolonged periods, and/or remain in an uncomfortable position for long periods, frequently bend, such as when setting up patients and/or equipment.

Visual Discrimination-Positions requires incumbent to constantly see objects closely as in reading equipment settings/controls and/or occasionally discriminate colors as in equipment warning lights.

Hearing-Positions requires incumbent to constantly be able to hear normal sound with some background noise as in answering the telephone, respond to an intercom and/or communicating in areas where multiple treatment sessions are being conducted. Occasionally be able to distinguish sound as in equipment alarms.
