Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Administrator in Dearborn, Michigan. The Payroll Administrator will play a crucial role in managing payroll processes and ensuring the accuracy of payroll-related data for our team. This role operates within the industry and is expected to handle responsibilities involving the processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with federal and state wage laws, and addressing various payroll inquiries.Responsibilities: Process both semi-monthly salary payroll and weekly hourly payroll for US locations while ensuring compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws. Administer accurate withholding taxes, including local taxes, and maintain an understanding of tax requirements across various US locations. Handle the administration of accurate unemployment rates and update them as necessary. Approve the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer’s social security, unemployment, and worker’s compensation payments. Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes such as exemptions, pay rate, insurance deductions, 401(k) deductions, address updates, new hires, and terminated employees. Calculate and process garnishments, tax levies, and child support orders, among other deductions. Validate each pay for tax filings, FSA deductions, HSA deductions, tax balancing, payroll wages, and taxes. Conduct semi-annual audits. Respond to tax authority notices and correspondence. Maintain electronic payroll data records using an organized systematic approach. Build and maintain strong relationships with employees across all levels and functions within the organization. Extract, verify, analyze, and present data for management decision making. Verify and process 401(k) data, including but not limited to deductions, company match, loan payments, year to date plan compensation compared to YTD gross compensation, newly hired and terminated employees, contribution changes, auto deduction calculations. Validate each pay, and conduct semi-annual audit as it relates to 401(k). Additionally, take responsibility for 401(k) census load, year-end questionnaire, and compliance. Stay current with technical payroll knowledge and processes to identify and anticipate impacts on systems and processes. Participate in operations software implementations and upgrades. Oversee E-Time system within Payroll software including maintenance, lead contact for employees and managers. Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and lead change.
