This non-tenure track appointment is designed for distinguished industry practitioners who have made significant contributions to the field of mechanical engineering. The successful candidate will bring real-world engineering experience into our academic environment, enhancing our teaching and learning through practical, application-oriented education.The position is full-time with a possibility of pre-negotiated part-time appointment. Teaching duties are anticipated to be limited to the fall (September-December) and winter (January-April) semesters.Responsibilities

Teaching Excellence: Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Areas of instruction may include, but are not limited to, engineering dynamics, acoustics, and NVH applications.

Student Mentorship: Serve as a designated career advisor to undergraduate and graduate students of the ME department?s programs. Make presentation on engineering careers and advise students personally guiding them in their academic and professional development, and preparing them for successful careers in engineering. Mentor senior design project teams.

Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty members to develop and update curriculum that reflects the current trends and needs of the industry, ensuring that our programs remain cutting-edge and relevant.

Industry Collaboration: Leverage industry connections to facilitate partnerships, internships, and collaborative projects that enhance the educational experience and prepare students for real-world challenges.

Required Qualifications

A PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

A minimum of 20 years of professional experience in industry, with a demonstrated record of achievement and leadership. Candidates with prior teaching experience will be given strong preference.

A passion for education and the ability to convey complex technical information in an accessible manner is essential.

Strong connections within the automotive industry in Southeast Michigan and the ability to engage in meaningful collaborations between the university and industry.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and industry partners.
