Job Summary:

The Full Charge Bookkeeper will manage all aspects of the company’s financial record-keeping and reporting. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, financial analysis, and industry-specific regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently. Must have experience with QuickBooks.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting:

Maintain and update general ledger entries, including journal entries and reconciliations using QuickBooks.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of bank transactions.

Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment tracking in QuickBooks.

Payroll Processing:

Process bi-weekly payroll using QuickBooks, including calculating wages, deductions, and overtime.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Handle payroll-related inquiries and issues.

Tax and Compliance:

Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax.

Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws.

Prepare documentation for audits and assist with audit processes as needed.

Financial Analysis and Budgeting:

Analyze financial data in QuickBooks to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insights and recommendations.

Monitor and report on budget performance, including variances and corrective actions.

Operational Support:

Manage accounts for fuel purchases, maintenance, and other trucking-specific expenses.

Maintain records of truck ownership, leasing agreements, and vehicle maintenance.

Support management with financial data and reporting needs related to trucking operations.

Administrative Duties:

Ensure accurate and organized filing of financial documents and records.

Assist in preparing reports and presentations for management meetings.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and accounting software.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).

Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or similar role, ideally within the trucking or transportation industry.

Must have experience with QuickBooks.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and payroll processing.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
