JOB DESCRIPTION – PROJECT MANAGER

This Project Manager position offers a broad array of opportunities for the successful candidate to use their talents. We seek an individual with considerable attention to detail who will contribute to our team of airport system consultants in various project roles, including project management, scheduling oversight, and on-site installation and commissioning efforts. These projects will involve airport plumbing and remodeling, requiring a thorough understanding of mechanical systems, remodeling processes, and plumbing considerations specific to an airport setting.

This position with BNP Associates, Inc. is long-term. The successful Project Manager candidate will oversee a $22 million renovation project at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). This role requires a presence onsite at DTW for at least five (5) days a week throughout the two-year project duration. After completing this project, the successful candidate will be reassigned to a new project.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience with construction documents and ability in the Microsoft Office suite are beneficial, as these tools are integral to our project management efforts.

The Project Manager will receive support from all entities within BNP Associates, Inc. In this role, the ability to research airport-specific plumbing codes, remodeling regulations, and safety standards is vital for effective project management. The Project Manager will ensure that all design and construction activities, particularly those related to plumbing and remodeling, follow relevant airport and governmental regulations. Additionally, the Project Manager will serve as a liaison between clients, contractors, and BNP, ensuring that projects adhere to schedule, budget, and agreed-upon A&E design plans. They will coordinate with various team members, including Project Directors and Executives, to manage project tasks such client submittals.

Projects that the successful candidate will take part in will require background checks and may require drug screening. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Project Manager, your responsibilities may include:

Serving as the primary liaison and subject matter expert (SME) for clients and contractors.

Coordinating with Project Directors and Executives to manage projects by assigning staff to develop all required reports and documentation.

Overseeing the integration of plumbing, building, and mechanical systems during airport remodeling projects, ensuring smooth collaboration between various engineering disciplines.

Consulting with team members and other Project Managers to identify and implement the best solutions for clients.

Managing the needs related to plumbing, building, mechanical systems, and remodeling projects.

Overseeing on-site surveys, inspections, installations, and equipment tests, particularly those related to plumbing and bathroom remodeling.

Handling punch list resolution and start-up assistance.

Managing project budgets and schedules.

Addressing RFI requests.

Providing feedback to the Owner on system progress, inspections, and schedules to ensure high-quality documentation is submitted to clients.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Ideally, the successful Project Manager should have the following qualifications:

Minimum Experience: The Project Manager assigned to this role must have managed projects of similar size and scope to those required by the contract. Specifically, the candidate must have managed at least one project involving interior renovations and/or plumbing within an open/occupied public-use airport or a similar government or private facility, with a minimum total contract value of $5,000,000. This project must have been completed in 2012 or later.

Leadership and team-building experience with large design and development groups.

Staff management and assignment skills.

Exceptional client rapport and communication skills.

Exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills.

Experience managing project coordination, timelines, and budgets.

Experience conducting field surveys, inspections, and equipment tests, especially related to airport plumbing and building/bathroom remodeling.

Experience with airport-specific plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and HVAC integration, as well as experience managing the unique challenges associated with remodeling active airport facilities.

Backgrounds will be considered if the candidate has relevant knowledge of renovation and remodeling projects.

Applicants for this position must have the legal right to work in the US. Proof of eligibility will be needed as part of the application process.

EDUCATION

A four-year engineering degree or higher is preferred, but not required.

PMP certification is preferred, but not required.

Plumbing-related certifications or specialized training in airport facilities management are desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.

EIT or PE certification is preferred, but not required.

Master Plumber certification is preferred.

Relevant project experience or knowledge may be accepted in place of the above qualifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time position based in Detroit, MI. The role may require occasional travel to airports within the US for site-based work and travel to architectural and engineering partner offices. The successful candidate must pass criminal background checks and screening to obtain airport security badges.

Standard 40-hour work week with occasional additional time required to meet deadlines.
