Our deep-rooted commitment to excellence, collaboration, integrity, diversity and inclusion creates exceptional educational opportunities which prepare students for success in a global society.Essential functions (job duties):The Civic Education Outreach Coordinator is responsible for project management, outreach, and engagement coordination for the Levin Center’s civic education program, Learning by Hearings (LbH). The program has secured significant funding from the State of Michigan to grow its resources and roll out its classroom materials across high schools in Michigan with a particular focus on under-resourced schools and communities. Responsible for overall project management of the Center’s civic education program including planning, coordinating, and implementing the roll-out of civic education materials; engaging in marketing campaigns, conferences, and school district outreach; tracking response rates; planning and coordinating teacher professional development sessions; and measuring the program’s impact in collaboration with Wayne State’s program evaluators. This position serves as the first point of contact and will work collaboratively with the Center's Civic Education Specialists in the ongoing development and improvement of the civic education offerings. Collaborate closely with the Levin Center’s Director and Manager of Operations and Finance to ensure program metrics and goals are achieved.Provides project management for the Levin Center’s civic education program, Learning by Hearings (LbH), coordinating project activities with team members and a wide network of partners and stakeholders, ensuring that project metrics and goals are achieved in specified timelines.Serves as coordinator of campaign(s) designed to tell the story of the innovative Learning by Hearings civic education program. Serves as spokesperson for the program in professional associations, conferences, and other relevant education partners, attending meetings/conferences, staffing promotional booths, supporting production of campaign video, collateral, and other LbH material.Serves as record-keeper, administrative support, and main point of contact for the Levin Center’s civic education program.Serves as liaison to Wayne State’s program evaluators to define and implement program evaluation and translate evaluation findings and recommendations into actionable continuous program improvement.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education Bachelor's degreeRequires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.Other advanced degree (masters or PhD) preferred.Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)Requires five or more years professional experience in program or project planning and management, marketing/public relations, or campaign launch. Proven track-record of growing program outreach and engagement activities building broad and sustainable networks and partnerships.Experience working with secondary schools and school districts and high school social studies, history, or civics teachers is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong organizational skills and ability to coordinate parallel workstreams within tight deadlines and fast-paced environments.Ability to liaise with multiple groups and individuals, carry out complex scheduling. Able to set priorities and monitor progress toward goals.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work successfully with diverse groups, including teachers, faculty, staff, and Levin Center stakeholders. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to draft and edit content for the Center's website and the program’s marketing materials.Knowledge of program or project management, marketing and PR, and marketing/PR campaigns directed at educators.Familiarity with or interest in civic education, public policy, democracy preferred.Proficiency in project management software and related tools preferred.School/College/Division:H07 - Law SchoolPrimary department:H0703 - Law Instruction UnitsEmployment type:
