OVERVIEW
The Specialist in Infrastructure provides regional/global support, with limited guidance, for infrastructure in internal and external IT systems or environments. This includes Network, Storage, VMware, Backup & Recovery, Server, and Cloud administration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Actively monitor and respond to ticket requests via the SM Portal, ensuring adherence to SLAs (service level agreements).
  • Monitor server activity responding to alerts regarding server capacity and functionality; remove old servers as needed.
  • Participate in administration, troubleshooting and root cause analysis exercises of Windows (90%) and Linux (10%) virtual server infrastructure.
  • Assist in the back-up process of servers, file shares and hosted data and respond to issues as needed; restore data and information as appropriate.
  • Evaluate performance and capacity data to ensure sufficient availability and performance, to identify problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Assist in the support of the global VMware and Cloud (Azure, AWS) infrastructure including builds, modifications, and maintenance.
  • Assist in the support of the global storage infrastructure including administration, troubleshooting and root cause analysis exercises of global storage infrastructure.
  • Assist in the support of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) connections and equipment in global data centers and offices to ensure reliable client connectivity.
  • Participate in the budgeting process for purchasing new equipment and help determine the necessity for purchase, including, computers, hard drives, phone equipment, hubs, switches, and related technical equipment.
  • Stay updated on related technologies and make recommendations for hardware and software products to the team for review.
  • Availability to travel to remote locations for infrastructure support (infrequent).
  • Proactively communicates with upper management to provide updates and report issues in a timely manner.
  • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ad-hoc IT Operations related projects or assignments, as needed.
  • Working with our global Urban Science teams to support their needs and initiatives as it is related to infrastructure.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Documentation: Proficient in technical writing and documentation.

  • Must have a baccalaureate degree in a technical field (computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information systems, etc.) from an accredited U.S. college or university, or equivalent foreign institution.
  • Must have a minimum of three years relevant work experience.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience in one or more of the following technologies.
    • LAN/WAN (Cisco, Checkpoint)
    • Enterprise Storage (EMC/Dell, Pure)
    • VMware
    • Azure/AWS
    • Citrix
    • Microsoft (Windows Server, IIS, PowerShell)
    • Linux
    • CommVault
