JOB TITLE: Museum Maintenance Worker DEPARTMENT: Building Operations REPORTS TO: Director, Building Operations, Building Operations Manager CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Museum-Based GENERAL SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Director, Building Operations and the Building Operations Manager, Museum Maintenance Workers perform general facilities maintenance work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Receive and respond to work orders.

Perform routine interior and exterior building maintenance and repair. Fix and maintain machines, electrical equipment, plumbing and museum lighting.

Repair and paint walls, flooring, windows and doors, and work on plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.

Perform all necessary duties associated with grounds maintenance, including cleaning of sidewalks and fountains, plowing snow and salting, Spring clean-up, lawn restoration, and irrigation repair.

Provide event support, to include moving, setting-up and tearing-down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting and function rooms.

Pick up supplies and office materials off-site and within the DIA and distribute these materials appropriately and as needed throughout the facility.

Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years of experience performing routine equipment and building maintenance, including basic plumbing, basic electrical, and heating and cooling. Forklift certification and valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines and goals.

Ability to maintain a stationary position and/or move for the majority of a shift.

Ability to respond calmly and make decisions in urgent and emergency situations.

Ability to share clear, effective, and professional information through talking or writing.

Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results.

Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities based on operational need.

Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours for special events.

Must be proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.

Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.

Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.

This position requires occasional heavy work, and the ability to independently lift and carry a variety of materials, tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., as well as the ability to manage heavier items with mechanical assistance. The position requires high visual acuity in order to ensure the safe use of tools and materials, and the proper operation of vehicles and equipment. Working indoors and outdoors may require exposure to seasonal temperature extremes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information using various methods including in-person, telephone and email.
