GENERAL SUMMARY:Under the direction of the leader of the Ophthalmic Imaging Center, performs quality diagnostic testing and direct patient care utilizing the health systems and department processes, procedures and standards. Perform research testing according to protocols.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
At the request of an ophthalmologist, performs all ophthalmic diagnostic image testing including retinal fundus photography, fundus auto fluorescence photography, optical coherence tomography, corneal topography, pachymetry, corneal pentacam, specular microscopy, slit lamp photography, external photography, OCT angiography and any new technologies as they are incorporated to aid in the diagnosis and record the patient's ocular problems.
At the request of an ophthalmologist, dilates iris of patient's eyes and takes intraocular retinal pictures with special ophthalmology cameras.
Must be patient care focused with attention on providing the best quality of compassionate care in an efficient manner.
Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers’ expectations that meet all elements of the Henry Ford Experience.
Must be a team player with proficient oral and written communication skills to work with employees, leadership, physicians and various external audiences.
Demonstration of problem solving, organizational skills, flexibility, self-directedness and initiative required.
Capable of conducting minor repairs to photo equipment and related equipment to keep diagnostic services running.
Serves as a liaison between staff physicians and support departments as it pertains to diagnostic testing quality.
Follows HIPAA/OSHA guidelines, adheres to the rules and regulations of the department and health system.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At a minimum, high school diploma required.
College education preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Actively working to acquire certification as an Optical Coherence Tomography - Certified (OCT-C) by the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS) required.
CPR (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Must always maintain above listed required certifications.
Research certifications must be obtained and maintained for each research study that requires ophthalmic imaging.
Lapsed research certifications must be reacquired within (1) month of expiration.
