Training on 1st shift (8:00am-4:14pm) for 2-3 weeks then moving to 3rd shift (12:00am-8:15am)

General Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying that manufactured plastic parts are in compliance with all applicable specifications and meet all customer requirements through in-process and final inspections.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for inspecting product for compliance of First and Last Shots of the production run, in-process and final inspection / dock audits. Inspects parts for flash, burns, shorts, stress marks, contamination, etc. Uses gages and hand-held measuring devices to evaluate product quality. Performs statistical process control when required, analyzes and records data.

Identifies and quarantines internal defective product and when customer rejections are reported and places inventory on hold.

Actively participates in the training and development of Injection Mold Machine Operators.

Assists Quality Engineers with PPAP requirements such as Gage R & Rs, and Capability Studies.

Scan product when the box/bin is complete.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspects parts for flash, burns, shorts, stress marks, contamination, etc. Uses gages and hand-held measuring devices to evaluate product quality. Performs statistical process control when required, analyzes and records data. Reports problems and analysis to the Supervisor and/or Quality Engineers. Conducts color and compliance testing. Verifies completion of required moisture testing.

Records and maintains Hold Cage Inventory Log. Ensures Quality Alert instructions are in place and followed. Ensures all sorting information is logged into E-Data.

Advises on proper workmanship techniques per operator work instructions to meet product quality goals and to ensure product is produced that is compliant with customer specifications.

Assists in providing operator breaks, ensures compliance to 5S and all safety requirements.

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule.

Will regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must wear protective equipment such as safety glasses to shield against bits of plastic while on the shop floor, may wear earplugs to protect against noise, and gloves and masks to reduce exposure to heat and dust.

Exposed to hot and humid conditions during warm months.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have three to six months related experience with plastics and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
