This position will provide interior design direction, apply intensive and diversified principles, practices and makes independent decisions that apply to large academic institutions; hire, coordinate and visual inspection of construction work as necessary. Evaluates, researches, manages, designs and coordinates interior environments in accordance with University, federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and guidelines. This position will oversee MSU projects with furniture budgets ranging from $5,000 to $1,000,000. Successful candidate must be innovative and communicate well in a team environment and with campus stakeholders.Position may have project manager duties which include leading diverse groups of stakeholders throughout the project delivery process which can include principal researchers, professors, facility managers and technicians. They will have constant communication on the impact on scope, schedule and budget with the project stakeholders and keep the communication in the forefront of the project so timely decisions can be made.Regular attendance is required to meet business and customer needs.This position will engage in high performing, leading edge practices, valuing people, partners and stewardship. At IPF, we are committed to fostering an equitable, inclusive culture; engaging and hiring a diverse workforce.Minimum RequirementsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Interior Design or Human Environmental Design; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in design research, presentation and planning techniques, project management, estimating, and preparing specifications, a demonstrated knowledge of; proficient in AutoCAD architectural and CAP specification programs, SketchUp or similar rendering software, furniture construction techniques, the materials used in interior design, systems furniture specification and installation coordination, ergonomics; and health/fire/safety codes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A valid operator's license is required to perform the duties of this position.Desired QualificationsOver eight years experience in cross discipline project coordination, developing estimates as well as studies, presentation materials for upper administrative levels, and coordinating all aspects of the interior design projects; experience with Microsoft Office Suite and use of presentation and database software; Revit or similar 3D design software, proven ability to work as an effective team leader delivering multiple complex high profile projects with varying budgets; act as the representative including outreach on behalf of MSU at various events; experience with coordination of maintenance needs; knowledge of construction standards in a University setting; and experience with university infrastructure and facilities, policies and practices. Experience with an asset management software and project management software.
