Role
We are seeking a resourceful and analytical candidate with a strong sense of what it takes to grow a business through the creation of content. We seek an Ecommerce Merchandiser who will ensure that our product selection is successfully turning shoppers into satisfied customers. This aspect of the business involves selecting and launching products based on key factors as well as tracking and analyzing results and following data-driven practices. The new Ecommerce Merchandiser will lead the merchandising efforts of one or more Ecommerce sites and report to the Vice President of Ecommerce directly.
Responsibilities
As an Ecommerce Merchandiser, it will be your responsibility to maintain and develop our product offering. To do so, you and your team will use various tools and information resources to research and select products based on criteria such as demand, exclusivity, customer satisfaction, availability, turn time, and profitability. As needed, you will establish supplier relationships and work to obtain the service levels, quality, and pricing we need to be mutually successful. You will also own the product management database that controls product information, pricing, and imagery on the website. Working in cooperation with your team and the Marketing team, you will need to ensure that products are well presented throughout the site and that product information is accurate and useful.
You will actively monitor all product-related key metrics as well as industry competition to address opportunities to improve the scope and quality of the offering, as well as understand and rectify any customer satisfaction issues. This will involve working effectively with other teams throughout the organization, including Sales/Service, Order Fulfillment and Marketing, in order to gather and incorporate information and feedback regarding different kinds of customers and their preferences.
It is critical that people throughout the company understand the details of our product offering, such as options, limitations, and lead times. Accordingly, you must ensure that your team effectively communicates such details through multiple channels including keeping reference materials current and in-person training sessions.
As Ecommerce Merchandiser, you and others will be responsible for the overall success and health of the product team and ultimately be responsible for the product database, images, and online content for our product lines. In this role, you will help set group and individual goals that directly support goals for this area of the business and the company as a whole. You will need to challenge and motivate your team and help them in the successful completion of those goals.
Key Accountabilities
Manage website merchandising and assortment layout
Develop and maintain product categorization
Partner with Ecommerce team on key item lists to ensure optimal product placement
Partner with vendors to review product lines and category set-up.
Identify and execute merchandising strategies for site ads, site editorial content, additional product information, and new navigations based on upcoming assortments and trends.
Manage on-site search merchandising, including increasing product relevancy and monitoring top searches to identify opportunities
Ensure consistency in both product layout and navigational systems
Partner with owners and vendors to develop promotional business-driving opportunities
Negotiate with vendors regarding order fees, terms, and promotions
Review all new artisan possibilities
Coordinate/delegate workload for the team
Set up new vendor accounts and maintain existing ones
Submit weekly briefs for product updates, new product additions, and promotions to Sales staff, Owners, and creative team
Ensure new products are set up for launch in a timely manner
Manage expectations of and communication with new vendors
Build key relationships with existing vendors
Partner with Marketing team members, Owners, Vendors, and Creative teams to ensure each product's image, copy, and navigation is accurate.

Customer Satisfaction with product selection, including not only the products themselves but also turn-times, availability, etc.
Cost-effectiveness and resulting price competitiveness and profitability
Quality and Accuracy of product presentation on the website
Team satisfaction with product-related information/communication
Merchandising team overall job satisfaction
Establishing, maintaining, and growing strong relationships with all vendors ensuring their complete satisfaction with ProPride as a channel partner.
Skills/Qualifications
This role involves working closely with internal team members and external business partners to achieve our goals for customer satisfaction and profitability. Accordingly, the ideal candidate will be strong in the following areas:
Experience with Excel, Google Sheets, and merchandising
Familiarity with retail operations, products, and vendors
Track record of success as a merchandiser
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to recognize trends and opportunities and effectively address them
Professionalism in communicating, negotiating, and resolving problems with outside parties
Proven resourcefulness and ability to work independently
Positive, customer-focused, results-oriented attitude
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to effectively communicate with management, employees, and peers
Previous website content & web merchandising experience preferred
Understanding of website analytics
Excellent communication, collaboration & partnership skills
Some travel, such as attending trade shows and visiting vendors, will be required.
