Job Title: Assembler B Job Code (req number once created) : 9887 Job Location: Grand Rapids, MI Schedule: (ie 9/80, 4/10, etc…) 9/80 (Every Other Friday Off) Job Description: Responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations which may include skilled hand work or utilizing automated production equipment. Comprehends and interprets a variety of technical specifications, terms and documents. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications. Essential Functions:

Reads work orders, follows production drawings, process instruction sheets, and sample assemblies or receives verbal instructions regarding assembly.

Performs moderately complex assembly or rework functions that include but are not limited to attaching mechanical and electrical components; wiring harnesses, soldering connections, and intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, cleaning, curing, stamping, and color coding parts and assemblies. May involve use of manual and semiautomatic assembly machines and tools.

Dis-assembles product to any level and effectively performs rework/repair activity to achieve acceptable function, configuration, or airworthiness condition.

Performs material control functions, including picking components off stockroom shelf into work order kits, picking material into KanBan kits, applying material control identification, inventory counting and control, inventory requisition transactions using ERP system.

Performs serialization and product ID labeling, operation of PC based serial number database program, CodeSoft label generation computer program and form feed label print machines

Performs hand soldering of through hole components to the specifications standards of IPC-A-610, and able to retain continual certification to perform such activities.

Perform hand soldering of surface mount components to the specification standards of ICP-A-610, and able to retain continual certification to perform such activities as required by assigned department.

Perform dimensional and visual acceptance inspection of all assigned products, including mechanical, electronic, subassembly and final assembly levels to IPC-A-610 and L-3’s ISO SOP and WI standards documents, and able to retain continual certification to perform such activities.

Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics for moderately complex components.

May participate in functional cross training within all major requirements of the assigned department, and demonstrated willingness to support any area of the business.

Performs job duties in accordance with approved procedures established in support of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations

Qualifications:

Requires developing job knowledge/skills.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Can participate and suggest improvements in support of the company wide goal of continuous improvement and manufacturing methods utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts and initiatives. Operational objectives are: reduced mfg cycle times, 1st pass yield, continuous flow, and on-time delivery to our customers.

Ability to work directly to engineering controlled drawings and notes, specification drawings, work order routing instructions and work instruction process instructions.

Willingness and ability to learn how to perform surface mount soldering.

Ability to write routine reports and complete required production paperwork.

Ability to read and follow blueprints.
