6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46-bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population served include patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions. This includes acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease and heart rhythm disorders.Our staff gain understanding of the cardiac and vascular system and its processes so that they can deliver excellent care to our patients within our specialty. Our specialty includes care of post procedures and post surgeries such as, cardiac, peripheral stents, sheath management, revascularization procedures and surgeries, Mitra clip, watchman procedure, endovascular aneurysm repair, mechanical embolectomy for treatment of pulmonary embolism, and many more. About Meijer Heart CenterThe heart and vascular systems demand extraordinary care. Our other sites are outpatient imaging departments.Scope of work Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient within our clinics alongside RN’s/Providers. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner. Orientation Orientation for the first week of employment as Nurse Tech requires classes:

Monday: 8am - 4:30pm .

Tuesday: 8am - 4:30pm

Wednesday/Friday: 8am - 4:30pm

3rd week after start date - Monday- 8am - 4:30pm

New Hires entering into Adult Critical Care departments will also need ACC class which is held within the same month as the start date.

Qualifications

Required High School Diploma or equivalent

AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Experience in direct patient care is preferred
