We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Flooring Installer to join our team. The Flooring Installer will be responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing various types of flooring materials, including hardwood, laminate and vinyl in residential. Maybe tile and carpet in the future. The ideal candidate will have experience in flooring installation, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
Measure and Prepare Surfaces: Accurately measure rooms and surfaces to determine the best place to start the job. Prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing as necessary to ensure a smooth installation.
Install Flooring Materials: Cut, fit, and install flooring materials such as hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, or carpet according to project specifications and industry standards.
Ensure Quality and Precision: Follow blueprints, design plans, or client instructions to ensure proper alignment, pattern matching, and secure installation of flooring materials.
Use Tools and Equipment: Operate hand and power tools, including saws, sanders, nail guns, and adhesive applicators, safely and efficiently.
Remove Old Flooring: Remove existing flooring materials, such as carpet, tile, or hardwood, and dispose of debris in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
Apply Finishing Touches: Install baseboards, trim, or transitions as needed to complete the flooring project and ensure a polished appearance.
Collaborate with Clients and Team: Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences. Work closely with other team members, contractors, or designers to meet project deadlines.
Maintain Tools and Worksite: Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite.
Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks on the job.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in flooring installation or a related construction trade. Apprenticeship or vocational training in flooring installation is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in installing various flooring types (hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, carpet, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, or design specifications.
Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and cuts.
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in flooring installation.
Basic math skills for calculating measurements and material quantities.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in various environments, including residential and commercial spaces.
Certifications: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Certification in flooring installation (e.g., Certified Floorcovering Installers (CFI) or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to handle unexpected challenges.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certification in flooring installation is a plus.
Work Environment:
Flooring Installers typically work on-site at residential or commercial properties. The role may involve working in various weather conditions, confined spaces, or at heights.
Work hours may vary depending on project deadlines, with occasional evenings or weekends required.
