America's Best Value Inn is currently hiring for both Full and Part guest service agents. Previous hospitality or front desk experience is required.
Overall: The guest service agent represents the hotel to our valued guests throughout all stages of the guest experience.
Reports to: The guest service agent reports directly to the General Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Uses proper telephone etiquette.
-Assists guests on the phone and in person with area information.
-Takes / confirms / cancels reservations
-Knows and repeats cancellation procedures.
-Transfers calls, and when needed, takes messages for guests.
-Registers guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible.
-Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit and cash handling policies and procedures.
-Knows the room locations, types of rooms available, and proper room rates to sell in each circumstance.
-Knows how to use front office equipment including, but not limited to; phone, property management system, credit card equipment, printer, fax machine, copier, and key machine.
-Processes guest checkouts according to hotel standards provided in Guest Service Manual.
-Posts all charges to guest and meeting room bills in timely manner.
-Uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures.
-Reads and initials front office log book, and checks employee bulletin board on a daily basis.
-Coordinates guest room maintenance work
-Reports any unusual circumstances, requests, situations to the manager on duty.
-Knows all safety and emergency procedures and is aware of accident prevention procedures.
-Follows franchiser policies for check in, check out, and advance reservations.
-Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front office and lobby.
-Is responsible for correct cash management, including the following: making change, properly depositing cash, balancing the front desk cash drawer.
-Understands that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shifts to other shifts / positions.
-Follows the required items on the front desk checklist.
-Prepares morning paperwork and materials for the different departments.
-Performs other hotel related duties as required.
Required Abilities:
-Ability to handle / resolve guest problems and concerns.
-Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
-Skills to utilize a computer and various software packages
-Ability to be the only person on staff during the shift.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $10.00 to $11.00 /hour
